Attending Paddlefest but want to amp up your paddling skills? We’ve partnered with instructors to provide a variety of specialised clinics you can attend! These clinics are not included with your Paddlefest registration.

2-Evening Adult Progression

August 2-August 3, 6pm-9pm

This session is a 2-evening progression working on building existing skills to improve participants boat control and overall paddling skills.

Goals - The aim of this program is to take existing paddling skills and polish them up and, at the the same time, build new skills that help participants improve their whitewater paddling skills. Our instructors will use personalized feedback and relevant drills to help achieve these goals in a fun, safe, and challenging manner.

Outcomes - After completing this course, participants can expect to have a tangible improvement in their whitewater paddling. As a student on this course you can also expect to have a handful of skills to work on moving forwards to continue improving as a paddler.

For beginner/intermediate paddlers ages 16+. No pre-requisites. Includes all paddling equipment.

3-Day Teen Progression

This is a special 3-day course of river running, kayaks skills and fun.

Goals - The aim of this program is to introduce participants to the world of whitewater kayaking in a safe, fun, and educational framework. Our professional, certified instructors will take paddlers through a logical progression that maximizes skill development, confidence and enjoyment of this sport we are so passionate about.

Outcomes - After completing this course, participants can expect to understand how to safely and competently paddle whitewater in Class I/II moving water and will have experienced kayaking in easy Class II/III moving water.

For beginner/intermediate paddlers ages 12-18. No pre-requisites. Includes all paddling equipment.

Rolling on the River

August 5, 9am-12 Noon

This rolling course is suitable for beginners with no roll experience or those trying to get the roll dialled in.

Goals - The aim of this program is to either introduce the base rolling concepts to newcomers or refine existing rolls for those with some experience.

Outcomes - After completing this course, participants can expect to have a good understanding of the basic mechanics of how the roll is performed and the 5 key steps we use when rolling. For those with some experience rolling, you can expect to have had your roll observed with specific and measurable detection and correction.

Introduction to Freestyle

August 6, 9am-12 Noon

The Intro to Freestyle program is a basic intro to surfing and hole riding in a freestyle kayak.

Goals - The aim of this program is to introduce participants to the world of freestyle. We do this through an attainable and fun progression which works towards building great control and feature awareness rather than just trying to wildly 'huck' big moves.

Outcomes - After completing this course, participants can expect to understand how to move around in a hole and/or wave, and to also link some basic moves together (such as spins, shuvits, etc).

For intermediate/advanced paddlers ages 16+. Must have bomb-proof Class III roll. Includes all paddling equipment.
